These pilgrimage routes guide you to the emblematic abbey through varied landscapes and cultural landmarks. Each route has a unique history, linking major sites such as cathedrals, abbeys, etc. and towns and villages closely linked to ancient communication routes, from the Roman road to the royal road that became the national highway.

Here is a list of the main routes to Mont-Saint-Michel:

  • Pilgrim Trail Route from Wincester Cathedral to the Cotentin and Mont via Cherbourg or Barfleur.
  • Chemin from Cherbourg Mainly coastal route via Lessay, Barneville-Carteret, Coutances and its cathedral, Granville and the Bay of Mont.
  • Chemin de Barfleur From the small port of Barfleur, discover the interior of the département through little-known natural and historic sites.         
  • Chemin de Caen Ouistreham From Caen, the route follows the ancient Roman road from Vieux to AvranChes, followed by pilgrims from before the year 1000.
  • Chemin d'Amiens Departing from Amiens Cathedral, a Unesco World Heritage Site, the route leads to Rouen through the Piardes plains and valleys of the Bray region.
  • Chemin de Rouen Itinerary through the five departments of Normandy and a host of major sites, from Rouen Cathedral to Falaise Castle and a variety of landscapes.
  • Chemin d'Orléans Chartres From the Loire Valley to Mont via Chartres Cathedral, the Perche region, the forests of Orne and the Mortain area.
  • Chemin de Tours Known as the "Grand Chemin montois" or "shared route", signposted to Mont-Saint-Michel or to Compostela via Le Mans, Mayenne and Saint-James.
  • Plantagenet Way A "shared path", signposted to the Mont or to Compostela from Aulnay-de-Saintonge by 
  • Chemin de l'Atlantique A "shared path", signposted to Mont-Saint-Michel or to Compostela from Bordeaux
